BEA-tricks prepares electrical record-breaking run: 1000 km from Flensburg to Munich on a single charge
Records are there to be erected. This is especially true for world records. BEA-tricks realizes a new range record for electric vehicles. The innovative start-up company that specializes in the electrification of the Smart Fortwo, prepares a ride on public roads: More than 1000 miles on a single charge, from Flensburg to Munich.
The previous records were obtained on a closed course. So under ideal conditions for the vehicles (no gradients, no fall, no stops at traffic lights) and the exclusion of the public. "We drive, however, under real driving conditions in normal everyday traffic. A video camera is on board and we will be documenting the record attempt live on the Internet", announced Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Sperling. In contrast, the previous record rides: on a race course in Shimotsuma reached Japan Electric Vehicle Club with a "Mira EV" 1003 km. The electric "Gobbler" of the Hochschule Offenburg put back on a private company test track at Boxberg / Main-Tauber-Kreis 1631 km. Average speed of four drivers who alternated in the total driving time of 36 hours at the wheel: 45 km / h.
"We are on average a speed of 50 in a traffic road", betrayed the resourceful developers from the Ruhr. BEA-tricks expects the 1.000-km distance to crack after about 20 hours - also with several drivers. "The launch of the tour falls on 17 October in Flensburg", announces Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Sperling. The record car is awaited on 18 October at about 2 PM in Munich eCarTec. The vehicle is then issued on the test track, the eCarTec LiveDrive, and afterwards on bsm stand in Hall 6.
"Of course we do not use for this range test any of our City-Stromer. For this the Smart is too small", said the chief developer of BEA-tricks/Batterie-Elektro-Autos based in Bochum. Used will be a Citroen Berlingo Electrique.
The approved battery as an energy source is for sure. The power pack that provides the power for the groundbreaking trip duration, consists of 10 lithium-ion battery packs with a total capacity of 180 kWh. The Bochum-based company wants to collect with this record attempt new experiences that will contribute to an improved battery technology for the electrification of the Smart Fortwo. For the same reliable battery pack (18 kWh) also drives the electric motor of the smart city car, that BEA-tricks successfully converts for two years into a climate-friendly Electric Vehicle and sells for cheap € 19 950.
